Investing in Gold outside an ISA

Hi,
I was wondering are there any glaring reasons not to invest in gold outside an ISA wrapper?
I am interested in putting circa 2-5k in to SGLN gold etf in a Fidelity Investment account.

Presumably you're not going to blow your CGT allowance with the profits of a £2k investment, so if you don't mind keeping good tax records to prove that you haven't, then probably no issue. You could do it in an ISA or SIPP if potential tax on the gains was likely to be a concern.1

I'm a good record keeper, so that won't be a problem. Would the record keeping just be a Fidelity investment annual statement? I want a small amount in gold to diversify my exposure in stocks & bonds(VLS) and cash.

No glaring issues. apart from the usual reasons to shelter equity investments within a tax privileged account. If you have no space within an ISA or SIPP you have little choice
