yes i got the welcome letters the card and pin. the hsbc account is still running as usual as i say i was following up on why it was taking so long but i the explanation i got was corona virus causing delays. the switch was approved mid February.badger09 said:Did you actually receive notification that the NatWest account was open, and the relevant details - sort code, account number? What happened to your HSBC account?
When was the switch due to take place?

yes i am now wondering if they saw what was coming and decided to refuse any new accounts given the pandemic and most people being unable to work. i also applied through the switch it would be interesting to know if others have had their approvals flipped and rejected.billyrees said:My account is due to switch in a few days, but I've only just saw that they pulled the £175 offer on 20th March. I applied before that announcement... Have they totally scrapped it no matter what?0 -
i was trying to get the account number so i could pass the data protections checks easily and get some help from customer service. i wouldn't need to put cash in necessarily my HSBC would switch to Natwest and all my money and DDs with it. But also wanted to change my pin to a more memorable one. as a bank account switch should take 7 days i was looking for answers when it was reaching 3 week then 5 weeks and we have a corona outbreak and we were about to go into lockdown. i needed just a clear answer on where my money would be.penners324 said:What were you trying to do at the ATM? Withdrawal cash? How did you get cash into the account to then withdraw it without the full account details?
Sounds like you jumped the gun on using the account before it was fully open and you had online and telephone banking access.0 -
When you set up the switch. What date did you ask for it to switch?
We know it takes 7 days, but you usually provide a date you want it done so it does not make DD's etc pay on the day of the switch.
If your HSBC is still open then the switch has not happened and you need to use that account.
You can change the PIN on Natwest card. Go to ATM, select Pin Services and change it that way.
Unless you have put funds into the nartwest account you will get a error trying to get cash out.
But surely you must have received some correspondence from them with your account number.Life in the slow lane1
