Artificial grass - U-pins

I feel this may be quite a stupid question but here goes!
I am going to lay some artificial grass next week as our natural grass is in such poor condition even with a year of trying. A common method of keeping the artificial grass down is using a series of U-pins. This would be my preferred method but we have two children under two who will be exploring every corner of the garden. The stupid question is will the pins hurt under foot? I think I will only put them around the perimeter where we have patio slabs anyway but because they cant be seen could they hurt if jumped on with barefoot etc?
I thought I would check in case someone has experience and its never been an issue or if it has should I look at gluing methods instead?
Thanks!

It won't be an issue. The U shaped staples are hammered down through the grass into the ground below. There's no risk of injury from them. You only use these if the ground below the grass is soft though. If you're laying the grass on a hard surface (slabs, decking etc), you'll need a different method of fixing.
You only need fixings around the perimeter as the sand infill you put down on top of the grass should hold it in place.1 -
The pins tuck under the tufts of grass, so very hard to find once in. I've fitted grass in both the front and back garden - the front garden uses pins, the back had a timber frame, to which the grass was stapled. The staples are far far better and I'd recommend that approach.0
