British gas smart meter

Hello,
I am unable to reach British gas by phone or live chat. My electricity is read automatically by smart meter so it does not let me submit a manual read for it and the last successful reading was made mid March. My bill is due out on 8 April.
The gas I am able to submit manual for that but what do I do about electricity or what will happen on the bill about electricity reading as I'm worried they will estimate it which won't be good for the account balance and currently unable to get through to them to speak about meter readings.

Advice and comments very welcome.

Don't worry about it.  It'll resolve itself after the next read.
If you're worried about costs, have a look at comparison sites for cheaper options than BG dual fuel.

My current tariff is very good :) but it hasn't read it automatically since 13 March. Its usually done hourly so I don't know what will happen when the bill produces in the week and unable to contact them.

    Hi,
are you referring to the IHD, it may not be working though the actual meter should still be sending readings to supplier.
Take regular readings from actual meter to keep an eye on usage.

It doesn't let me submit the electricity readings manually as it says read automatically. The in home display displays the meter reading correctly. My British gas account where I can see the electricity reading is usually always updated but both the usage and reading on my account for electricity has not been updated since mid march

Keep your own records whilst it's not sending info back to the supplier.

The world wont actually stop rotating if it's not sending stuff back, so you should make sure that you've saved your own data then you can get it sorted out when the system gets restored. It really isn't vitally important.

Keep daily readings on a spreadsheet in case this becomes an ongoing issue.

You could always email them with a reading and keep a copy for evidence should a problem occur in the future.

Yeah I always take photos for proof. Having just logged in, they have picked one up from today so appears to be OK again
