Halifax mortgage mistakes

Yet another clear mistake from Halifax, who have staff who mean well. They have made yet another mistake on my account.
The have triumphantly notified me that my mortgage is going down, due to the drop in interest rate, from £236 to £246 per month. It would have to be a fairly strange set of circumstances for this to be correct.

OK? Call them and find out what has caused it? Hardly a thread worthy piece of news.0

Seems a little obtuse
1) Halifax don't sort out mortgage problems well on the phone.
2)Given the staff are under pressure it is worth checking
3) They do it persistently and it is quite likely they are making mistakes with others costing people money without them knowing.
I suspect altruism is not your strong point,😏😏😏0 -
I am a pragmatist, not obtuse, just realistic.
Staff do not process your payment change. HBoS has millions of customers. Payment changes will be automatically calculated by their systems. The letters will be automatically generated by their systems. There could be a dozen reasons why the payment was set that way, for example where overpayments have previously been made and a payment reduction taken rather than a term reduction, but these haven't been capitalised into the balance on which the payments are calculated.
In this situation no one is being cost money, because the interest is being charged correctly. I have no idea if this is what has happened to you, but literally the only people who can tell you is Halifax.
Simply pointing out, that posting here will achieve little for you and your time would have been better spent just asking the only people who can explain to you what has happened and remedy it to your satisfaction.

I have two science degrees. I am not stupid. About five years ago I asked Halifax to check my mortgage over its term. They found overpayment had not been factored in, GIGO. It is clearly in the public interest to let people know that mistakes are made. I do not trust corporations. If you do you are a naive fool.
You do not have a clue either. I have made a number of over payments on the High Street quite recently and a mistake was made by the cashier. I have multiple accounts.
Further another mistake was made by Haifax on 'buy to let'. I was erroneously charged interest on one of these accounts too.
I could go on but I won't.0 -

These are challenging times, I am positive when you reflect on this thread at a later date you will feel a tinge of embarrassment.2 -
Mistakes happen everywhere, what matters is whether they get put right.2

My 17 years experience working in the mortgage industry say otherwise. During which time, for the record, I have encountered many academic types, who whilst totally intelligent people, had literally no clue about mortgages or finance in general. In addition, I have come across dozens of people who thought that "mistakes" had been made, when most of the time it was the fact they did not understand correctly the workings of the product. What I do have no clue about, is exactly what has happened in your situations. Which brings me back to the original point of calling Halifax.
In all my time of using financial products, I only ever had an issue once, caused by a system error by the lender. It was corrected. I called them up to fix it, because that was the right course of action. Guess what - Other people will have had the same issue at some point, I am sure. It is a fact of life that sometimes things are not perfect. You appear to be a "tin foil hat" type - Thinking everyone is deliberately out to get you and rip you off, which is far from the reality of life.

You are right, I have zero knowledge of environmental consultancy.
I never professed to. It was you, sir, who stated "I do not have a clue" in my response to your statements, which in fact I am suitably qualified to understand. I have no such chip, Sir. My qualifications are also plentiful. As is my common sense.
That said, your latest comment about "Tory spin" and rip-offs, makes a lot of things clear. One being that clearly I shouldn't waste any more time in this thread.
I hope Halifax have been able to explain things to you and resolve them to your satisfaction / correct any error if there was one. I do hope you will share the outcome of your call with them so we all get to understand why it happened.
