The only slight niggle that worries me is a low 'click/knock' sound on the steering rack when turning the steering wheel during corners..it's been there a couple of years but I'd rather avoid a catastrophic failure/break if it needs to be fixed
Commonest cause of this sort of knocking is a worn CV joint (at full lock you put the joint under great stress). Is it from just one side? Just when turning sharply at low speeds?
In my opinion, if it is CV joint, it's pretty unlikely just to catastrophically fail. It will need eventually replacing as they do progressively get worse over time so if it starts knocking more when casually driving along, that is the time to get it done. I've lived with knocking CVs for many many months and done significant miles on them.

Thanks for this. When driving and turning on sharp bends it sounds more like a click but it becomes a louder sound when full locking e.g: manoeuvring around a sharp bend in a carpark.
I've been driving the car with this sound for a good few years now! Hopefully it hold up at least for another 6 months!
