Chromebook won't connect to Wi-fi.

Options
Just got out a chromebook I haven't used for a month. Charged it up and surprised to find it didn't connect to the internet. I clicked on the wireless symbol in the bottom right corner and saw that the wi-fi was turned off. Turned it on and though the toggle changed to the 'on'position it still stated that 'wi-fi is turned off'. no networks were shown. I clicked on 'networks' and the same.
I'm not at all tech savvy so no idea what to do now! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Had the bright idea of doing a powerwash. Now get the message 'to restore your data' you need an internet connection. and asks me to add a wifi network, clicking that requests an SSID. I've never had this with a powerwash before!

SSID = WiFi network name.  Choose your WiFi network name and enter the password when promoted.

Thanks, wongataa. Last night that didn't work - it wouldn't detect any wifi signals at all. Wouldn't accept the SSID either. For some reason, this morning, normal service is resumed. Displays all wifi networks and connected automatically to mine. Technology!

  • Win10 updates break programs, chromebooks are closed loop excellent security, powerwash is just a factory reset.

In your case I assume a cold boot reset your existing signed in to chromebook wifi it removed all user accounts and reset your Chrome device to be just like it was before reset Best of luck.
