I see on my credit file.....with Equifax at least that there are 2 types of search
credit and other
Now it says I have had one credit search recently ( correct )
yet there appears to be multiple other searches ....these look like ID checks and such as when I have searched for car / home / life insurance.....these number to about 30......who sees these other checks and should I be worried about the amount of them

There's only 2 type of searches hard and soft, hard is when you've made a full application for a credit product and soft is as you say car / home insurance etc. All potential lenders see hard searches but no one but you sees soft searches and no you shouldn't worry at all about soft searches.0

Ok thank you.
i was thinking that if “soft” searches are seen and could affect credit applications then that would poss put me off from searching each year for new car / house insurance1 -
I applied for an HSBC First Direct account Hard Search.. but cooled off within 14 day period, also was looking at Talk Talk which was a soft search my credit rating went down this month..0
