    Which solicitor refused? Your buyer’s?
Yes, buyer’s solicitor, and my solicitor agrees. His argument is that if a completion date is set in advance, and one of us gets the virus and can’t complete, we’ll be in breach of contract. Neither solicitor will entertain a variation clause in the contract.
If you will the end, you must will the means.

If you end up desperate storage facilities are still taking bookings.  You could store the majority of your stuff and rent room or take a very very short term furnished let

That’s an interesting argument. Before Corona you could have had a car crash, etc.  :)

Perhaps you should attack this from the other side. Can you find a landlord who is going to be flexible? It’s very hard to find tenants at the moment. So, maybe you can get a tenancy lined up, then complete that at the same time as your sale? A tenant who has money in the bank is a good find at the moment, so it’s worth the landlord helping out here.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I will speak to a letting agent on Monday morning.
    Thanks.

Yeah but right now all it takes is a cough and the whole household is stuck for a minimum of 14 days.  I can understand it, the risk likelihood has increased.
