Small business grant eligible but application refused

I own a large cafe in Suffolk with 4 employees. We closed in line with gov. requests on 23.03.20. I have received my business rates notice for this year which states I am entitled to 100% Small business rate relief. My rateable value is 7200. I believe I am entitled to claim either the small business grant fund or the retail and hospitality grant.
I have just tried to apply for both of these online to be told I am not eligible for either. Why not??? and what can I do about it?
Has anyone yet managed to make a successful application for these grants or are they a government myth!?

Thank you. I've seen the guidance. How do you actually get the grant when you are eligible but have been refused. Anyone?0

It is administered by the Local Authourity so have they given a reason for the rejection? If not that is the first thing to pursue, could be difficult to contact at the moment though.0

That's why I referred you to the guidance (most people haven't read it in full). If you can't see the reason you have been rejected, take it up with the LA as Hermann suggests.Hermann said:It is administered by the Local Authourity so have they given a reason for the rejection? I tried without success to apply for this grant on Friday and Saturday. After this little chat online on Saturday, today my application has been accepted. Coincidence!! I think not.0
