According to The Guardian they are permanently closing 531 stores, due to the £3.8bn merger between Dixons and Carphone Warehouse not working the way they had envisaged.  As it doesn't relate to COVID-19 Dixons Carphone can't put employees on the government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (commonly referred to as furloughing.)  Nothing wrong with Dixon's not making illegal claims for government grants.
