Getting Refund/Exchange Fridge Bought online

Options
We bought a new fridge freezer which was delivered last week. Having just taken it out and inspected in ( 8 days later) there's a bash in the back meaning the coils are bent and there's a bash in the fridge.  Their website says 'It is your responsibility to check your goods upon delivery for shortages or damage and to make a note of such on the carriers consignment note when you sign for the goods. Any damage must be reported to us by phone or e-mail within 3 days of delivery'.

Is this correct? Or can I still request an exchange/refund. Any advice welcome
Info as follows:
Bought online via credit card 19/3
Delivered 26/3
Taken out of packaging 2/4

You can request a return because it was an online sale and it arrived within the last 14 days. The trouble you may have is if they accuse you of causing the damage.  It is reasonable for them to ask you to inspect it within three days.   Approach them in the right way and they may help out.   It might drag on if they dispute they caused the damage though.

Have you kept all the packaging?  Is there visible evidence of transit damage such as dented cardboard or polystyrene corresponding to the damage on the appliance?  That would help your case.

That is a very good point.

For future reference, unless there are exceptional circumstances, always inspect any delivery and if possible test the item promptly. It can save so much hassle later.
