Morgage Offered

Can anyone shed any help with this
I applied for a Mirgage Application back end of February had to clear my car loan off to fit affordability this went on for a few days until I got evidence to say paid of in full. They were slow at progressing things. Eventually March 19th had and email from my broker which he copied me in what the underwriter had said that they were happy with the evidence and happy to approve and offer my morgage. They were just having technical issues issuing the offer pack but please let your customer know we are happy to aporove the morgage. 24 hours after that we went into lockdown.
Still no offer pack chasing broker getting on his nerves and now feel I can't ask him anymore.
Any advice what you think may happen.
Thanks.

  • Ask your broker to confirm with the lender if it's definitely been offered yet. If so, can they send him a copy electronically (which he can then send on to you).

To say they're "happy to approve" is a good sign, but I always say that until you have the physical offer don't get too excited. It could just be because collections lines are rammed, they've had to re-allocate staff, or they've had people off sick etc - so that might be the delay (i.e. it's been formally offered, but not posted yet).

Alternatively, it may have been pulled in for QA/Audit etc. But there's nothing you can do but wait unfortunately. Also, although I completely understand your frustration and worries, hassling them may make them double check everything again and cause more issues!!

    Thank you.
He has email evidence of it being approved and offered but then there were technical issues, then 12 hours later they were on lockdown it was one if the off shore underwriters in india so they have been brought over to the UK..think there only on 20% staff now as you can imagine.
I wont get too excited your right I'll just have to wait patiently and see what happens. Don't want to keep harassing the broker either..thanks further advice much appreciated

Lender isn't Barclays by any chance is it? They're quoting 10 working days (2 weeks) for everything at the moment as they've been massively hit service wise.

Edit - Thruglemir beat me too it!!

  • Interestingly this is happening to a lot of Barclays applications. Mine was delayed for the same technical issues, it took them over a week to resolve so they eventually issued an offer on 13/03 (the whole process took just over 3 weeks). But now my solicitor is still waiting for the mortgage letter to come through as we can’t exchange contract without it. Been chasing Barclays for the last 2 weeks and still nothing. Is the mortgage deed being sent from India as well?
  • I think your solicitor can ask for an electronic version?

Shut down in India was unexpected. Highlights the danger of off-shoring work.
