I would imagine that it's a system issue that doesn't rear it's head very often - as there previously were likely to have been very few, if any customers that had to extend their contract. It's likely that the issue is now rearing it's head massively now that a huge number of customers are having to go through the same process as you. Systems can't be changed overnight though, it usually takes a lot of manpower, time and effort to make a significant change to software etc. but I'm sure that you won't be the only customer in this boat right now. There's no doubt they'll sort it out - and sort out everyone that's been affected by incorrect entries on their credit reference files, but I can imagine that in the whole world of finance there'll be a tsunami of challenges their dealing with in a short space of time. Sometimes we look at our own issue and see it as something major that needs sorting NOW - whereas in reality we have to be a bit patient - and it'll all work out in the end. It's not something we should go through, it's not something we want to go through, but the reality is there's a lot going on around us right now, and it'll take a bit of time to sort out. My best advice would be to continue your communications, ensure they take the correct steps to make your reported files accurate, and if they offer the £500 again, take it!
