Refused furlough (virgin media)

Hi team,
I was on payroll with virgin media and was made redundant on 6th of March along with almost 300 employees

I have contacted my employers and virgin has got back to be with the reply that they will not furlough me
Also they said Martin Lewis is not clear about his statement and it will be a frogery with three government to take money as we had planned the redundancy prior to corona virus,

How ever we were on their payroll in Feb and first week of March and couldn’t not start a new job due to this plus we can only get furloughed with the company who employed us in Feb
Here is the full reply from virgin media hr

Could it be related to this ?
If so, as their communication says, the rendancies were alreeady planned before the advent of coronavirus.

    The above was from February.
Meanwhile there was this report from 26 March 2020

    500 jobs at Virgin Media

The phone and internet company is creating 500 new UK contact centre jobs to help keep customers connected during the coronavirus pandemic.

New jobs are being created at locations across the country on both a permanent and fixed-term basis. Roles will be based in Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester and Teesside.

"We're working day and night to keep the country connected and make sure services are running smoothly," said Abby Thomas, an executive director at Virgin Media.

"In these difficult times, we're really proud to soon be welcoming hundreds of new staff to our contact centres who will help us continue to serve our customers."

    People can apply here.

The scheme was meant to be to protect jobs. Although it seems to have gone a little of that now. But as they rightly say they can not claim for you yet. They may in the future.
