Barclays Partner Finance (car finance) woes - still taking DD after settled

So on 7th march, we bought a new car, using a personal loan, dealer to pay off finance on our part exchanged car

Confirmed with dealer that Barclays who financed the part exchanged car have been paid to the full settlement figure.

Comes the 23rd march and Barclays take another DD payment.  Spent a record breaking 4 hours on the phone to them to be hung up on after being asked for our agreement number.  Ridiculous - but we can't cancel the DD because if they haven't been paid they will mark as a default.  The dealership (Evans Halshaw) confirmed they paid off the part ex finance and confirmed with HPI that Barclays removed their marker too.

Not really sure what we can do but pay TWO direct debits, one for a car that we have already paid off, until Barclays start manning their offices again.

Given there is less than 2 weks between the 2 events so it's possible that everything had not been processed in time to stop the DD. Have you tried to access the loan account via the website or mobile phone app to see the balance?

There's no online account for Barclays Partner Finance loans, nor an app. The automated phone service hasn't worked since the crisis - you dial option 2 for a balance figure and it just says "Please wait for an advisor" and you end up on hold.

For ref in case anyone else is in the same situation - keep ringing, we got through eventually, and the helpful person confirmed it's settled and arranged a refund of the overpayment.
