How long is a piece of string?
The answers would be pretty meaningless because there are far too many variables.  What sort of business, size of premises, number of employees, opening hours, whether it provides goods or services, etc.
A launderette will use far more gas and water than a newspaper stall at a station !

Is this an existing business you have bought ? If so the former owner can give details but make sure he gives you actual kwh, m3 figures rather than wishy washy about £500  a month.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

The only way to get anything like a reasonable figure is to ask the current landlord. There are so many variables any other figure would probably be meaningless.

As above, speak to the existing landlord/licencees. The size of the pub, the location, the type of heating, lighting, building construction etc and any one of a myriad of other stuff would have a bearing on the consumption of utilities. Its hard enough to estimate the consumption of an average three bedroom house let alone a pub with the capacity for 4, 40 or even 400 customers.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • Will you be offering meals throughout the day (cooking costs)
Will you be open all day
    Size of pub
Does pub come with rooms for people to pay for to sleep in
Is there living accommodation in the pub which is non-commercial

So many variables with pubs/inns as everyone else has mentioned.

If you do go ahead with this take extreme care when setting up a commercial energy account as there are many out there trying to sucker you into signing up for a lengthy minimum contract period with 4 figure penalties for early termination...
  • Also, unless you go through a broker (would increase prices due to them adding a brokers fee) - you would want to contact multiple suppliers directly to receive quotes as not all will use comparison sites, which could be a lengthy process.
