Just because you don't read what you are signing doesn't automatically make something a scam or fraud

FIL bought quite a few, paid quite a bit of money for some that were available on ebay for a lot less.  He thought he was getting something
valuable and collectable. Probably going to be a long time before they are worth what he paid.

May never happen, or when they do reach the price he paid, inflation will make them still worth less.

What many buyers of these coins and medals (and collector's plates and other "brand new collectables") fail to realise is that for their purchase (I refuse to call it an "investment") to appreciate in value there has to be a market which is willing to pay more than the original purchase price. Unfortunately these markets appear not to exist.

If the original buyer dies and the beneficiaries of the will don't want the "collectables" then these will often end up on eBay, or similar, at less than the purchase price, just to recoup whatever is possible.

Is there a reason why this old thread has been revived? The OP already said the matter is settled to his/her satisfaction in a post on here dated 26th September. ;)

Forgotmyname just added an anecdotal, but relevant post concerning values
