ClubMed offering credit note and not giving full refund on a ski holiday

What are my rights regarding a Clubmed ski holiday which was cancelled by them due to the coronavirus. They have only offered a credit note which needs to be used by April 2021 and refused to give a full refund.

Hi CastlerockMan we are in the same position. Have you had any joy with ClubMed? I fear that because the refund and ClubMed voucher is valid until April 2021 even insurance won't pay out because there is still a chance the holiday can go ahead.0

They are now offering full refunds....but...only after the end of January 2021 (if you haven't redeemed their credit note/voucher).....you couldn't make this up. They are utter charlatans and are sitting on millions of pounds of people's money - many of whom need it back now. They know the law but are trying to keep shareholders happy at the expense of customers who paid money for holidays in good faith (their billionaire Shanghai owners are the owners of the Fosun group of which Club Med and Thomas Cook are now part).0

No.
Our aim is to ensure that if travel companies ask their customers for more time to process a refund, they do this in a way that protects fundamental customer rights – in the case of a package holiday that means the right to a cash refund
The law is you are entitles to a full refund after 14 days.
It is understandable this is broken ATM , but that can not insist you wait for your refund till next year.

Unfortunately ABTA is looking after it's members - the travel industry - rather than the consumer. The consumer is being asked to provide financial leverage to companies that were paid for holidays in good faith, that have subsequently been cancelled. If you don't want to re-book you are entitled to a refund within 14 days - no ifs, buts or maybes. To do otherwise is illegal. Club Med are breaking the law and thousands and thousands of people are having their money withheld by Club Med and others. That is horrendous and these companies are putting profits before people - Fosun International make billions. Do they not realise that the consumer has a long memory. Club Med has thrived from customer goodwill and repeat business over the years but who in their right mind would book with them again if this is how they get treated?

I do think some people forget ABTA represents the travel agents, they advice what's best for the travel agents NOT the customer.LondonSE23 said:Unfortunately ABTA is looking after it's members - the travel industry - rather than the consumer. Meanwhile Club Med excitedly talk about re-opening their Chinese resorts (see China Travel News.com) to tap into a huge market of Chinese travellers who need a holiday! European customers, on the other hand, have 1,000s of pounds of money being held hostage by Club Med!

club med didn't even acknowledge our holiday was cancelled until 3 weeks afterwards... i cannot see anywhere on my account where the credit is? there is no 'call back' facility either anymore... no where to re-book using the voucher , even if you wanted to... what next???
