Vanguard SIPP

seem relatively easy to set up , but the funds invested are vanguards only ? it would be for a relatively small pension fund

For a small pension value it is fine. People with larger values may feel the restrictions on vanguard funds only are a blocker.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Say you already have Vanguard life Strategy VL20 as part of ypur SIPP to take advantage of Bond performance over fund which must be better than saving AC due to tax relief.
In a few months when you believe the stock market has crashed you sell it all and at the same day (Or the following day if not possible), you buy VL80.
Apart from risk, which some people might be comfortble with it, is there other disadvantage of doing this?? I understand there is no fee of doing this (?)

There is no cost , you just need some luck trying to time the switch correctly as in reality it will be a 50:50 call .
Also when you buy and sell funds like this you never know what the actual price is until the funds have their daily valuation , which can be over 24 hours after you do the deal.

VLS20 isn't immune from a downturn.1

In this current climate, you will never know Stockmarket crash might happen while you are sleeping and your investment will drop free fall.Is there a way to provide a stop loss in Vanguard SIPP using Vanguard Platform, so when the stock market drop below your limit the stop limit will execute the selling option automatically. if so please how to do that ??

Is there a way to provide a stop loss in Vanguard SIPP using Vanguard Platform, so when the stock market drop below your limit the stop limit will execute the selling option automatically. if so please how to do that ??The Vanguard PPP is on a budget platform with budget functionality. That is to be expected as that is the market they are targeting. if they had wanted SIPP functionality they would have used a SIPP. However, even most SIPPs don't have stop losses as they would be bad for most people. If you do really want such a thing and would not fall into the trap that many inexperienced investors would make then they are available elsewhere.

If you are talking about stop loss function with a Vanguard Life strategy fund ? then this is not possible.1

I've found Vanguard CS to be excellent so far (only 2 months in), budget platform or not. As good as HL, certainly. As pointed out above, the limitations are the fund options, which have a US bias. Subject to that, nothing else comes close for value, unless you have a larger pot to invest.
I've consolidated a number of separate pensions and reckon the 1st year saving on fees will be in the region of £800.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
