O/S Daily Friday 3 March 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv with a cuppa, I'm bathed, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge - I'll be heading to the SM for some supplies first thing, I have the list for the vulnerable parents also to get them some supplies. DS1 still in his pit, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a HM lasagne with salad for me and skinny chips for the menfolk - all eaten no LO's. I can't remember the last time I made that. Not sure what we'll be having for dinner tonight I'll see what I can get at the SM see if there's anything different.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, enjoy your days off.
It's a bit damp and dreary this morning but meant to brighten up later. I have white wash to go on so hopefully that can be hung out later. At least we have had some decent weather whilst being stuck at home.
I should have an Argos delivery arriving this afternoon but haven't heard anything from them yet. I also ordered decking oil from B&Q last night as they seem to have added more click and collect items to their list. Although the order form says I can collect from tomorrow, I haven't had a confirmation email from them which is a bit worrying.
I managed to sleep until 6.30 so will get organised and go for my walk shortly. The ducks I saw yesterday were Mandarin Ducks, very pretty. I don't know where they've come from but certainly cheered up my day.
Our applause for carers was lovely last night, the piper played Scotland the Brave and Flower of Scotland, really seemed to lift everyone's spirits.
Take extra care everyone. XX15 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Groundhog Day 19 here. Doesn't time fly when you are having fun! I think I might be getting used to being confined to barracks at last and may not want to go out when the release date actually happens!
No big Friday Tidy today thanks to my industrious last couple of days. Just the kitchen and bathroom in need of a clean today. The DGD's bedrooms will just get a lick and a promise as they are on the agenda for blitzing next week.
It didn't seem as good a turnout up here last night for the Clap for Carers and NHS. Not many on my road out so we who were had to clap louder to compensate. I could hear drums banging in the main road with much cheering so that was heartening. Again it was very emotional.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for us all, especially the poorlies and recuperating. Take care all xx

Good morning everyone
Thank you nmlc for starting off the thread today x. I had a better day yesterday with not much crying at all, my CPN rang me for a chat which helped a lot. He is going to ring me every week for the foreseeable future so I feel there is support out there still.
I started off a small cross stitch kit yesterday but had to stop after an hour as I was getting a headache. Oh well, it's not like there is a deadline to make it so I will just do a bit now and then. I also finished knitting and sewing up a Pikachu chocolate orange cover for my grandson for Easter. I've already made a sparkly unicorn one for my grand daughter but goodness knows when they will get them though. I might ask Steve to leave it on their doorstep when he walks the dogs.
I had a long chat with Jemima as well yesterday. She is working hard at the moment as she works with challenging adults with autism. She said it was the most normal part of her day and did her the world of good to mix with her colleagues and clients. The kittens are growing quickly and they all have their eyes open now. She held them to the phone so I could hear them meowing , they sound so cute.
I think we are having a cooked breakfast for dinner tonight as I spotted some lorne sausages and black pudding in the fridge. We don't have any eggs but we have everything else. Steve is popping to the supermarket today to track down some bread so hopefully there will be some eggs there today. We had breaded chicken breasts and skinny chips for dinner last night and they were very nice. I seem to spend an awful long time planning meals. I signed up to a local veg box scheme so that will be helpful as they deliver bread and milk too. The veg all comes from local farms so I am hoping for some very tasty meals.
Ok, I am off, hope you have a great day whatever you are up to, take care all xxx

Stay safe x

Morning
Seems the sun is back this weekend which is great news, back to the paint chart Nanny Slept till 6 this morning which was nice for a change. Needed to amend my own SM order that arrives tomorrow and glad I did as most of it had been taken off unavailable usual suspects eggs flour butter milk ketchup beans pasta but also most of the veg which is annoying I wish I could get to the shop myself for a look as everyone seems to say they are fully stocked oh well liver and corned beef it is then
Mum asked me to send a card for Golden boys birthday for her I didn't even know his address! Glad she's finally realised she can't just nip out and do it herself so happy to help .....is it evil though to snigger at the opportunity to chose his card some seem so appropriate for him I will behave though I promise
Washing on and the usual clean up planned then nothing much. Clapping was a bit feeble here last night which was a shame but I tried to make up for them all. Food wise today it's a freezer hunt which does need a sort out soon.
Have a good day all if you can15 -
Morning all.Cold here, I'm sitting as close as I can to the radiator. It's weird as in my own home there isn't any central heating, only the woodburner. I'm not keen on a fully heated home, perhaps I'm getting used to it!This morning I've got an online meeting at 9.00a.m., final information about furloughing, and then I need to go out to the shops. That's the highlight of my dayBELLA - I hope you get some good news about the wedding today.CAMELOT - the pipers were fab yesterday. All round Scotland pipers were playing the same tune, very moving.TA - you'll run out of rooms to clean soon!DUMPLING - glad to hear that you feel better.ILC - happy shredding - I'm not doing any as recycling centre is closed and there'd be no-where to put it. The pile of papers takes up less room than bags of shred. I'm keen to shred but daren't.NELSKI - can you register as vulnerable on a SM website?Well, I'd best fire up the steam-driven work laptop, it's very reluctant to do anything as they loaded W10 on an old machine!I hope that everyone has the best day they can. Happy Friday to all.13

Gers, it's not so easy to register as vulnerable with the supermarkets. We've been trying, Steve has had the letter and registered on the Govt website but all the sm websites say that they will be in touch when they have verified he is on the list. So far only Sainsbury's has sent an email (on Wednesday saying they would be in touch the following day but they weren't). My friend said they had received a box of food from the govt but it was fairly useless, especially as her husband is diabetic. Apparently it contained chocolate cereal and biscuits but also corned beef and some soup. We don't need stuff like that, it's fresh veg, milk and bread that we lack.
Chris and Crystal stlll seem ok, just the cough and tiredness so far, I'm hoping they will escape any worse symptoms because they are young and healthy.
We didn't go to the hospital in the end, Steve had a telephone consult and was advised that they didn't think missing a treatment would cause any problems so on balance he decided it would be wiser not to go. Hopefully it will be easier in another 8 weeks.
