Pound coin electric meter and COVID19

Hi,
I'm in a flat with an electric meter than only takes pound coins and I'm struggling to think of where to get them from now. The shops around me aren't accepting cash, and my bank is now only open 10-2 Monday-Friday. I'm working from home during these hours so I'd have to take a day off work to go. Apparently you can only get change at the post office if you bank with them. I contacted the letting agency to ask if they have a contingency plan and they said to just go to the bank.

EDF say they have set aside funds for customers who can't recharge their prepayment meters. Unfortunately I don't think you fall into this category.. They cite self isolation, illness or being laid off as reasons. I suspect other energy providers will have a similar approach, but you should check. I take it you are not near any shop that is open, who might change a banknote?0

Wow, i haven't heard of an electric meter like this in many years! Maybe it's time to speak to your energy supplier to change that meter sometime in the future. For now, i've not yet gone into a shop that's refused to accept cash from anyone. They prefer card payment but will take cash.0

I don't have any contact with the energy supplier. Someone from the letting agents comes and empties the meter every so often and it's all dealt with their end. I think they must rent to a lot of students, it's such a backwards system...poppy12345 said:Wow, i haven't heard of an electric meter like this in many years!
