Groupon vouchers

I purchased a hotel booking using a groupon voucher, but had to cancel due to COVID 19. Groupon is offering a credit voucher for the cancellation saying they are unable to refund cash. I am not interested in the credit voucher as I bought it for an event which has been cancelled and not postponed.
I paid with a credit card what are my rights to cash refund in this case.

Your rights are the same as the dozen or so other Groupon posts raised in the last few days. You didn't buy a hotel stay, you bought a voucher and then used it for a hotel stay. Therefore Groupon can legally refund you in vouchers/Groupon credit.
  • There should be exemptions to the rule. The reason for cancellation is due to the current situation, even the service providers are cancelling without charges. I don’t do groupon  only booked the hotel stay because I thought I  was getting a good bargain. Now I am stuck with a credit voucher I may not use and paying interest on my credit card.
This is not a fair transaction in my mind.

No there shouldn't be,  it's quite simple.  You bought a voucher, you're getting a voucher back. That's completely fair.  It's one of the risks of using vouchers to get a "bargain" instead of using proper money.

Not your last as you still have your voucher to spend.
