Default or not?

I’ve had default notices from a couple of creditors, continued to not pay or rectify the accounts, but my credit files still show the accounts as late or missed payments and don’t show a default.
I want the accounts all defaulted before I start a dmp but I don’t understand why they’d send default paperwork but not reflect it on my credit files. It’s been a good few months since the letters came too.
Any ideas?

They may have been defaulted sums notices, rather than default of the account.0
