I'll refer to my previous reply ... golf clubs are typically (non-profit) private members clubs and not businesses. As such their scope to offer such alternatives will tend to be very limited.

If you have paid for 12 months usage of the golf club then why not just ask them to extend the membership by the amount of weeks it was shut?

My entire family have season tickets to a venue and they are extending our passes for the amount of time they are closed.
Because, as I said earlier, you do not normally get a refund if the course is closed for bad weather etc. As others have said unless the "club" is actually a profit making business making money for its owners, then the members are "all in it together" and all any refund would do is deplete the reserves which it will badly need.

Could you not argue that Golf was a form of exercise and they should still have the course open.
OK they would have to shut the club house. But the actual course could still be used. With the apporate social distancing and of course no non essential car travel.

Golf clubs have been specifically told that they must close - at least here in Scotland anyway. They have no choice in the matter ... they would actually prefer to be open for play as at least they'd be able to still run some competitions.

Sod's Law is that the weather is lovely right now ... not typical for here at this time of year.

It was very much a tongue in cheek reply in the hope that they had not been told to close.
    >>All courses in the UK have been ordered to close due to the coronavirus outbreak<<
    Was not aware of that.

Didn't I hear the other day that Caroline Lucas was actually advocating the opening of golf courses to "ordinary" people without gardens so they could exercise?  (I might be wrong as I heard it on TalkSport - although Danny Kelly and Simon Jordan are relatively reliable)

Who in practice is going to prevent anyone walking across a golf course anyway?

To what extent are they at work though? (especially if the club has no income)

Not a problem in Scotland as the "right to roam" includes golf courses anyway.
