I am beginning studying a one year teaching course this year, during which I won’t be able to work due to a demanding timetable and placement. My boyfriend owns a flat in the city in which I’m studying, mortgage free and owned outright. He stays with his parents during the week as he’s work in a different city, again, rent free. His outgoings are next to nothing. Am I being unreasonable asking to stay in his flat while I study? It would save me thousands in accommodation costs and be better financially in the long run.

What would he be doing with the flat if you weren't staying there? If he would be renting it out then you are denying him rental income.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. He doesn’t rent it out. It’s empty when he’s not there.0

Reasonable request then. Though I do wonder why he keeps an empty flat.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
