Yes you should be able to but check your contract of employment first.
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere

Answered well over a hundred times already. Yes if your conditions of employment with your main employer permit it.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

ok thanks my current employer have advised against it as they are not clear whether it effects furlough payments this is why I asked here....i work for a very large company who you would of thought would know the rules .....0

when you say permit it i assume you mean my current contract allows fora 2nd job0

It may of been asked 100 times but the government has not made it clear if it will effect furlough or not.0

have advised against itSounds as if they don't know.
Pre-crisis did anyone at your company have other jobs as that will be any test if HR come over all difficult. It is it outside the employment contract then it is of no concern to them. Whether they get paid by the HMRC is of no concern to you.
If they were to decide that you should be made redundant because you have a second job, then they would need to have followed an equitable procedure which might now be a bit difficult if you have confirmation of what they said.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-you-could-be-covered-by-the-coronavirus-job-retention-schemeIf you currently have more than one employer
You can be put on furlough by one employer and continue to work for another, if it is permitted within your employment contract.
If you’re put on furlough by more than one employer, you’ll receive separate payments from each employer. The 80% of your normal wage up to a £2,500 monthly cap applies to each job.

That sounds to me if you have two jobs before furlough you can work one or both.
You can be put on furlough by one employer and continue to work for another, if it is permitted within your employment contract.

If you feel that is the correct interpretation then delay your furlough with job 1 until you have started job 2 then furlough on job1.0

hi dave b. Hermann is missing the point, you are asking about getting a second job after you were furloughed. there are no confirmed guidelines on this yet, but please see the below for now:
Can I work for another employer if I am furloughed?
Staff may be able to work for another employer so long as it does not breach the contractual obligations set out. They should only work outside of the hours they would normally work with the job they have been furloughed from.
Taking an extra weekend job at a supermarket, or running deliveries in the evening, may not breach obligations if your contract stipulates a 9am-5pm working day, for example.
copied this from inewsalso see hereCan someone in the furlough scheme do work for other employers?
Possibly. The guidance is clear that agency workers will only be eligible for the scheme if they are not working. The wording of the guidance suggests that working elsewhere may not be an absolute barrier to other types of employee being furloughed, but it is not entirely clear.
You should be able to impose restrictions on employees working elsewhere, even if this is allowed under the scheme, but you should think carefully about whether you want to do so. You will obviously want to stop furloughed employees from working for a competitor, and there will be no need to say this explicitly because the employee’s underlying contract of employment will stay in place throughout the furlough. You might want to allow furloughed employees to take on extra work in, for example, the health and social care sector or essential services.
