Insurance does not cover risks which you are already aware during the booking. If you renew, make sure T&C remains the same and insurer did not specifically exclude Covid19 disruption upon renewal.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

No insurer is going to allow a renewal that includes cover for Covid-19.

I too have a similar problem with Hoseasons. I will do as you have done and contact the holiday park and see if I can cut out Hoseasons and deal directly with them.
One other point re the Consumer Rights Act 2015. I have spoken to Citizen's Advice
Unfortunately the breach of contract act does not apply to holiday bookings quite in the same way and sadly Hoseasons and all the other companies doing the same thing are within their rights to offer alternative holiday date rather than a refund. Seems wrong to me but the only way to change  that is by legislation to amend the act.
  • Mine is a uk barge holiday so I don’t have the flight issues etc. Pretty sure we will get away at some point this year or this time next.
