New Glow Worm boiler wouldn't turn off

Well, for the life of me I just dont understand why my recently installed Glow Worm ultimate 30c combi boiler wouldn’t turn off with the flowmaster thermostat. I woke up early feeling the house was overly warm, went downstairs and the boiler was on. I checked the flowmaster (horrible, fiddly little device) thermostat and it was set on a timer, which means it must have accidentally been knocked from permanent override. I switched it back to permanent at a very low threshold and it still stayed on. I even turned the thermostat off completely and still it stayed on. Switched the central heating off and hot tap on the actual boiler. It turned off. Thinking this would have done it I turned it back on standby mode on the boiler, but still leaving the thermostat off.It came back on. Turned the  power off on the actual boiler and on again. The heating again came on. Last resort was turn the mains power off and on again. This managed to get it to stay off when turned back on again. The thermostat has been working as it should (used on my old boiler) and recently had new batteries so ot can’t be that. What worries me is why the boiler carried on, ignoring that the thermostat was turned off. It was installed in November so really shouldn’t be going wrong at this point. Even more worrying is how many times has it been doing this when we have been out thinking it is turned off ?

Has anyone else experienced this ? it seems impossible that a boiler should come on when the thermostat is off.

    I'd suspect the thermostat

If the thermostat has batteries, I would assume it's wireless.  So my first suspicion would be a failure of the data link between the thermostat and the receiver.  Or a faulty thermostat or receiver.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Flow master make toilet spares that should tell you something, plus if your combi was only installed in nov it must comply with boiler plus & I very much doubt your stat complies

It does comply otherwise the engineer wouln’t have chosen it when he fitted it to our old boiler. Its also sold on Screwfix with very good reviews.

It turned out that the remote box needed the batteries changing as it now turns on and off when it should. The reason I didn’t change them earlier ? because the manual states that when the batteries are low you get a flashing symbol of which I didn’t. So, if your batteries are a bit under par but still working it can still cause  malfunctioning. I know the new batteries solved the problem because immediately the boiler clicked when I put them in and the lcd display was much stronger.

What is the model of your stat ?
as boilerplus only came out last year I doubt it was a consideration if it was fitted to your old boiler
