Can I try and claim a charge back for our cancelled holiday to Japan? The travel agent is refunding some but the insurance company wants us to try and get a charge bavk from our bank first.

You can try, but it might not succeed. Why is the agent only refunding some of it if it's all been cancelled?0

Hi. I don’t know whether you’ve had any luck and who your chargeback scheme is with but mine is with Visa and it seems there is not a chance o a chargeback in relation to Coronavirus and holiday cancellations. My bank advised me that if a government have ordered an action (such as closing hotels) then this order supersedes any rights you may have had to claim a chargeback. As such chargebacks are worthless in relation to Coronavirus!0

This is the MSE guide to chargebacks
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/visa-mastercard-chargeback/Metro bank have allowed me to start a chargeback for my hotel , they have asked for confirmation of what I booked and where the hotel is sited . I wasn’t due to go for another 9 days and I suspect I need to wait at least until that date has arrived before I hear anything, however they have already acknowledged my claim. It was my insurance company who said I needed to try a chargeback first, but if it fails then I can fall back onto the insurance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. We have been waiting for a chargeback from NatWest for almost 45 days, but they have suddenly asked for more information. Does this mean it could be another 45 days?0
