Hi,
I have some restaurant vouchers due to run out at the end of the month (Chef and Brewer). Obviously the restaurants aren't open. I know it's not the most important thing in the world, but does anyone know if there is anything I can do to use them?
Thanks,
Tim

It may be that they will extend. I'm a bit surprised their website is still running as if nothing has happened. If only they were big enough, soft enough, and came on a roll, at least you would know they had some use!

I expect you'll get some kind of extension, but it might take some time. Businesses will have no clue about what's going on (they are at the end of the food-chain too). They are probably being silent because they a) don't know what they can promise; and b) don't have staff able to work on this issue because they are stuck at home too.

Hold tight and wait for news. Remember these type of vouchers aren't really a gift per se. They are a scheme to generate business.

They'll surely do what they can do to get people back through the door once they can reopen. That will surely include honouring expired vouchers.

I have some Groupon vouchers that are being extended a few months, so check with either Tesco or Chef & Brewer and ask if they are extending as well. I've noticed that some businesses, retailers/restaurants, aren't updating their pages or making it public that extensions are being made until you ask them,

I've just been in touch with a place I was die to visit using Tesco Clubcard vouchers. They told me that Tesco are putting plans into place to enable vouchers to be used beyond their expiry dates.

Shame that Tesco didn't add a comment to this effect on their own website, even if they haven't finalised the plans yet as I would imagine that they've been inundated with queries about it.
  • We put an automatic six month extension on our treatment vouchers and membership cards.. It saves people asking for a refund on the vouchers and gives them more back than they purchased if we only end up closed for three months say. We also stopped promoting gift vouchers about a week before we closed, felt immoral taking money at that time for something you cant use.. Some of our competitors where actively promoting voucher sales, knowing they would get shut own and may never re-open!

I've just found information on the Chef and Brewer website saying I need to contact Tesco who will issue new vouchers. It also has information on other gift vouchers - https://www.chefandbrewer.com/coronavirus/faqs/
