Identity verification for Universal Credit

Hi
I want to apply for Universal Credit. I submitted an online application. I have now been asked to verify my identity by signing in with GOV.UK Verify. I was then directed to DIGIDENTITY website and had to give details driving licence and passport and then my bank card details including the three digits on the back. At this point I panicked and logged out. I have tried to phone DIGIENTITY but they are not taking any calls as they are very busy. Has anyone else used DIGIDENTITY and been asked for bank card numbers and do you know if it is secure? The UC site says I must complete the identity section otherwise my claim will be void and I will have start all over again.
Thank you

This question has come up a lot recently, always in relation to Digidentity. I believe Digidentity is a legitimate company we use to verify people's identity, but seems to be the only one that asks for the 3 digit card security code (I could be wrong). Could you use another verification company? Many claimants use the Post Office, Barclays and Experian, as they are familiar names.JobCentre work coach. My comments are my own personal private opinion and NOT official DWP advice/policy.1

I used it ages ago. They have to verify your identity online and it is one of the ways they do it. DIGIDENTITY has a website u can search for it. Your identity needs to be checked or you could be someone else pretending to be you and making multiple UC claims. They gave me an option of doing it through Barclays as I have an account with them. But now Barclays can't verify my identity for some reason and I can't get into my account. If I have to do it again I will use Digidentity.

The problems with proving ID haven't been helped by the fact that on 23 March three of the companies who the DWP were using to verify ID for UC pulled out of the scheme.

I registered with Digidentity back in March as it was the only way to apply for universal credit. I was in a queue for weeks (after they had taken all my information and then have been left hanging ever since to have my application processed which I still don't know what's happening as I can't log back in to the site. I keep getting messages from safari saying the certificate is not to be trusted and blocks me going any further. Today I tried again and get this message, so I am now really worried. Anyone else having this problem? I called universal credit in the end and they verified me manually so that's all good to go but I'm really concerned i've given all my details away to hackers??
