Balance Transfer help

Hi, im seeking some advice regarding balance transfers.
Basically, a friend of mine has an argos card with a few thousand of debt on it. She has recently gotten a 0% credit card with MBNA, for which she would like to do a balance transfer for the debt currently on the argos card. MBNA say this is not possible for the type of card it is. I would debate the truth in that, however I thought a simpler solution may be if I help her out by having her do the balance transfer of the same amount to MY credit card (this would take my card into a positive balance, i dont think thats a problem?) I would then just phone up argos and pay her balance for her using my VISA current account card (I know you can't pay off the debt using a credit card).

I dont mind having a positive balance on my credit card, ill just use that instead of my bank card for a few months.

Is what I am suggesting feasable, or is there something else I'm possibly not quite grasping here? Many thanks
Kev

You need a money transfer card.

MT card >> Current account  >>  Argos card

And don't put your card in a positive balance.

    Definitely a problem with that...

You might be able to pay the Argos card with your credit card, but that might incur a cash fee....
Some cards also block balance transfers if the card/account is not in your name...

I really didnt think it was, It been in a positive before by quite some amount. I remember a sofa being returned faulty 6 weeks after purchase. Refund of nearly 2k, but by that time I had cleared the balance on credit card as I do every month. I remember just using the card over the next while and drawing down the balance, it just basically meant i never had a credit balance to clear for a few months.

Argos dont accept credit cards as a form of payment. Think its kind of along the lines of not being allowed to use one debt to pay the other but im not sure, thats kinda what a balance transfer is anyway! Regardless, argos dont accept credit cards, only debit cards anyway.

MBNA, said they can only do balance transfers on cards marked visa, mastercard, american express etc....None of which is the argos card.

Refunds are fine, but you're talking about deliberately putting it in a positive balance state, which breaches the terms.

You may get away with it, but equally they may close your account.
