Hi,
I recently calculated the cost per page of my laser printer at 8.84p per page.
The calculations can be found on my blog, if anyone is interested:

Hope this helps

Hi guys. Just read this thread as I am in search of a new printer (for occasional use) which won't cost the earth to run.
Where I work we have just got a new Brother printer and the price of ink is amazingly cheap. They are expensive to buy (about £200, mainly because they are A3 printers) but the ink cartridges work out at about £25 for a black cartridge which does about 2400 pages, that's around a penny per print which is a bit lower than laser printer prices!0 -
and do you work for an ink retailer?!!

Loving the stats. Very intresting to see which printers come out on top I had always considered using a Lexmark but since the problem with the new 100's ive decided not to. The Epson was my choice using the T0711's so much saving can be made by having the compatibles and compared to the originals for normal text and docs there's minimal to no difference :-)Every Little helps :rotfl:0

I recently posted the following in the Techie stuff Forum.
"I bought a new printer in June 2009. It is an Epsom Stylus SX105. I paid under €100. I am a little anul and have kept a record of every time I changed one of the four ink cartridges. Now three years on I have done a simple analysis of my ink usage.
I am retired and we are a household of three but 95% of the printing or copying is done by me and I consider myself a normal/average user.
So to the stats. Replaced cartridges over three years not counting the (probably half empty) cartridges in the new machine.
Cyon 12 cartridges (28% of total)
Magenta 9 cartriges (21% of total)
Yellow 7 cartriges (16% of total)
Black 15 cartriges (35% of total)
A rough average cost of each cartridge is €8. So the total cost over three years is €344 or about £275.
That is a shocking amount of money, or is it.
Do other fools have any views on the above.
Interestinglowed now have two iPads in the household And I am thinking about the purchase of a new printer that supports printing from them and so "running cost" will now play a part in my research. However on first look running costs are very difficult to find."
I have now looked at my usage and i think that I probably use NO MORE than 1000 sheets of paper (two packets that I usually buy for less than €3 each from a local supermarket. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Which hp laser would be best ( tend to stick
with hp as they're compatible with macs and I've always had them I suppose!)0
