Energy companies disconnecting

I have historical problems with Scottish Power since I moved home last year. Too many incompetences to list and 18 phonecalls. I applied to switch to Eon but SP wouldn't allow it as I have an outstanding bill. The bill is an estimate despite having supplied them four times with the actual readings, and far too high. No support available by phone or online. I've tweeted them, no reply either. My home is all electric and they are pursuing me for payment by email and text. I'm very worried about having my power switched off. Does anyone know what the situation is during this crisis about energy companies and disconnections please?

The present crisis does not affect disconnections. They won't disconnect you.

Have you made a formal written complaint to SP?  Use snail mail - don't phone, email
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Stop keep phoning them and WRITE a formal complaint letter. Mark it very clearly complaint and send it by recorded delivery, you can e-mail it as well if you want but a recorded letter shows them that you mean business. Having a whinge or a moan on the phone is not a complaint.

Once you started the formal complaint process they have eight weeks to either sort it out or send you a deadlock letter only then can you go to the ombudsman.  As far as I'm concerned they get one chance to put it right otherwise I start the complaint clock ticking as soon as possible.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
