Advice needed - fined for stopping in bus stop

Hi can i please have some advice please. I have been fined £55 for stopping very briefly in a bus stop. I made an appeal to say i stopped very briefly for less than a minute to secure my child's seatbelt. They came back and said that they rejected this as the onus is on the driver to ensure all passengers are wearing seatbelts correctly and drivers responsibility to find somewhere safe and legal to park,i understand this. However i would like to respond that i did secure her but she pulled the strap forward and it didnt feed back through the car seat correctly so at that point she was unsafe. I was in the middle of a town i know well and there is no safe place to pull over for about 10 minutes, no bus was inconvenienced as no bus pulled in while i was there.
They have said i i need to pay now or i could appeal but threatened thati will likely then be liable for the increased charge of £110 if i do that, i feel this is to put me off appealing. I'm really unhappy that the safely of a child is not seen as important as the non existent bus.
What should i do, should i just pay the £55 that i don't have as I've lost my income due to this Coronavirus?
Thank you for taking the time to read.
