Well a quick rummage in the fridge has shown leftovers from yesterday (stew and potatoes) and leftovers from Sat (fivespice/oyster sauce pork mince and rice) so if I can find something else in freezer that's tonight for the three of us sorted....Fridge is looking very empty though!3

Yesterday was a dive in the freezer. I knew I had some sausages and a packet of sausage casserole mix circa 2015 to use up (came from parents store cupboard) There was only 3 "real" sausages and a packet of Linda McC which I quite like. Some left over ready sliced white onion and a couple of not the best smaller salad onions. Had to buy fresh mushrooms as there were non so cheap shop run/walk. All the potato were used up with the intention of having some left for the morning to make potato cakes. Simply added butter and a good dollop of mustard to them. Hubby declared he enjoyed the meal. He hadn't realised there was a Linda McC sausage in there ( I had ended up with one which is the only reason I'd realised myself)

The bit of steak was lovely, shared between us, and there are four pieces of potato left (if DH has not snacked them for breakfast). They would go with the lambs hearts if they last. I think our son is coming today and I'm hoping we can eat early. Chilli I thinkSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Got a small pot of leftover tomato sauce out of the freezer intending it to be part of dinner, but there was enough leftovers, so will turn that into soup for me at lunchtime. Have taken mince out of the freezer this morning intending to make a shepherds pie, but will have to investigate the home grown potato situation, we still have plenty but not sure if they are peely mashy kind of spuds. If not will boil them and serve them with the cooked mince. Got celery, mushrooms and carrot to put in too. A pasta sauce for tomorrow is planned that will clear out the veg. Mr A coming on Thursday, so will make sure I've ordered more veg.4

Last night's dinner was this root vegetable tart, using up the last of the root veg from our Thanksgiving feast last week. So very tasty, if a bit spicy from the heat of the pul biber (a new to me spice!) - the combo of miso and tahini is strong but very moreish!
Next of the list of things to reverse plan into the meals this week are celery leaves from our veg box - it is the one thing the box providers need to send less of - I'm sooooooo tired of young celery with leaves & have at least 7 pots of sofrito in the freezer ready to go. Their weekly recipe suggestions include a celery leaf pesto, but we've already have 8 pots of basil pesto in the freezer from the one pound 0li0ed glut from the other week! So am contemplating celery leaf soup from this recipe, if there are any other suggestions, please send them my way!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! My mother always used celery leaves in her potato soup. You might try it instead of leeks. I loved it that way.3

We've an errand to run on the way home tonight so will get back later than usual. In the interests of a speedy tea I've earmarked one of the tins of salmon I bought on Lil's BOGOF offer last week alongside a jar of D01m10 sauce (tomato & marscarpone) bought super-cheap in F@rmF00ds a while ago. I'll add some finely sliced mushrooms and some frozen peppers from the packet, and it will cook/heat through nicely in the time the pasta takes to cook so that should be a winner.
I think tomorrow evening might be a use-it-up curry night, although I may yet bump that to Friday and do a proper Indian fakeaway night with daal and flatbreads too. If I do, then the chances are tomorrow will become sausage and mushroom risotto. quite enjoying adaptable meal planning at the moment but might try and go back to something a bit more structured for a while from next week.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yesterday was spent pruning and hedging - 8 hours (16 of the 1-ton aggregate bags have gone to the farm and been burned. I baled out after 7 and showered, took paracetamol as my back was protesting, and nuked 2 baked potatoes, reheated the chilli, scoffed and out by 18.15 to go to a meeting via Auntie's house (she has sciatica and I was taking some slightly stronger painkillers round before a bee meeting vaguely over that way).Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

We did in fact make a vat of Cream of Celery Leaf soup, using leeks in place of the spring onions, and it is simply delicious and perfect for this cozy season.
I've scored some Italian toasting bread from 0li0, so pesto toasties and soup are on the menu for lunch today!

I like to meal prep my lunches each week. I regularly go to the gym so they are usually made up of a combination of chicken, rice and greens in a variety of flavours and sauces. I have found this is the cheapest way to eat healthy and in good portions.3
