Changed job on 2.3.20 - can’t get 80%

Options
Hi,

I use to be a construction agency worker up until the 27th of February and then I changed job to work for a groundwork’s company and be on their books (to finally get away from the agency) I signed my contract of employment with the new company on the 27th but didn’t start work until the 2nd of March.

My new company has now completly shut down and layed me off. They have said they can’t pay me 80% because I started working for them after the 28th.

Now i I don’t know what to do and just feel so unlucky that I can’t receive this 80% government grant.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

thanks

Look for a temporary job or see what benefits you eligible for.

If you don't have savings/capital of more than £16.000 then try Universal Credit. Use a benefits calculator to see if you're entitled to anything. If you live with a partner you'll need to claim as a couple.

Or New style JSA if you've paid enough NI Contributions in tax year April 2017 to march 2019.
