Can I be furloughed?

Hi. Bit confused about the whole furloughed worker thing. I resigned from a position at the end of Feb and started a new job on 10th March. I have since been made redundant from that new position. Am I right in thinking my previous employer can put me back on their payroll and then apply for me to be furloughed? I was technically still on their books on the 28th February, although they let me go on the 26th and take 2 days holiday.

The idea of the scheme is to protect jobs yours was not lost due to the virus, you resigned so why would they? Unless they actually want you back.0

They had to make you redundant. They didn't. You resigned.

Keep an eye on the guidance, there is talk in the media of it being clarified to include those who resigned. It's nothing more than a rumour at the moment but worth monitoring.0
