Hotel cancelled booking made with Clubcard vouchers - who do I ask for refund? Tesco or Hotels.com?

  • Update from me too. As per my posts above, I rang Tesco clubcard dept yesterday morning (the  0330 123 0707 number), the lady took my details and said she would get her manager to check the details with Hotels.com. The clubcard points were added back in full to my clubcard account this morning. Full marks to Tesco (and actually to Hotels.com too, who refunded me the 'real money' part of my hotel costs without me having to ring them at all).

I wonder if Tesco have changed their response to this. My booking was cancelled by the hotel at end of May. Hotels.com have confirmed they will refund the amount paid with card but have advised I need to deal with Tesco to have the clubcard vouchers returned to my clubcard account. Tesco say it's up to Hotels.com to provide me with a voucher I can use with them at a later date. I'm just getting passed back and forwards between them.
  • The same thing happened to me yesterday. Hotels.com said contact Tesco for a new voucher, Tesco said I will get a voucher directly from Hotels.com in the next few weeks? I agreed to wait and see but not exactly confident I will get a new voucher from Hotels.com. Poor service from both companies.
  • Hi, I had five separate bookings using Tesco Clubcard vouchers with Hotels.com which have all been cancelled. I have received the cash part of the payments refunded no problem but am left waiting for £200 worth of Tesco vouchers back.

I have spent hours on hold/calls with both Tesco and Hotels.com and they tend to point me in the direction of the other company for a voucher reissue... Tesco say that Hotels.com should provide a replacement coupon, Hotels.com say Tesco should reissue the voucher. Neither has happened yet.

Sometimes Hotels.com seem to change their advice depending on who you talk to, saying a refund for the cash PLUS a coupon for the lost voucher is available but it takes up to 30 days. Some of my bookings were cancelled two months ago so doesn't look to be the case.

All very messy keeping track of voucher numbers, confirmation numbers, cash refunds and nobody is taking responsibility!
  • We had a hotel booking for May 2020, Hotels.com cancelled and refunded the cash part of the cost.  Contacted Tesco Clubcard re voucher refund which they did.  Then had another booking for June which was again cancelled.  Cash part refunded again, but this time Tesco Clubcard advised that Hotels.com will be issuing a voucher for the clubcard part.  What if I do not wish to book another holiday with Hotels.com?
  • Also had hotel booked through hotels. com using Tesco clubcard vouchers.

Hotel cancelled over 2 months ago due to enforced closure.

Hotels.com refunded tax and cash part payment but  been passed back & forth between hotels.com.and tesco clubcard ever since.
Different story each time you speak to anyone.

Date for which we wished to rebook ( rearranged wedding) has now passed so out of pocket as had to pay cash.

Tesco.com continue to fob me off saying its its hotels.com responsibility

    Anyone made any progress recently?

Nope! I am in the same position of being passed back and forward between Tesco and hotels .com!
  • hi. I have been trying to get my voucher code since mid May. Booking.com told me I would have to wait up to 30 days from my intended stay which is now up i contacted them again and have been sent back to Tesco. Booking.com stated that Tesco should be liasing with the marketing team at Booking.com. Tesco don't understand this. Why can't Tesco just give back the points like they did at the start? Surely this would be the simplest solution.
  • Hi, I have had my booking cancelled today by Hotels.com and Tesco have told me that as my booking was made after the 30th of March, I am not entitled to have my vouchers refunded by them nor am I entitled to any form of voucher from Hotels.com. I didn’t want a refund I was hoping to be able to book a different hotel via Hotels.com.
I’m so annoyed, I could understand if I had cancelled the booking.
