Being put on Furlough, can I work another job in the meantime?

So I'm being put on Furlough and have a question as to whether I can, work another job in the meantime?
I work in sales so also means I'll be losing out on any commission or bonuses during this time so keen to help and top the wages up.

Will this effect the company I work for getting the 80%?

The furlough scheme allows for you to have a second job. You must not do any work for the employer that furloughs you but can continue to work in the second job.

Your main employers contract must allow you to have the second job, or have given permission for it as you remain under contract to the employer that furloughs you.

Your contract of employment may not permit you to work elsewhere. Talk to your employer. If they are OK with it, fine. Whether you do another job or not does not affect the company's ability to obtain the job retention grant.
