Holiday in June should we cancel

Hi we booked a holiday in Florida for June. We booked everything separately and flights were paid by credit card. Our final payment for the Villa is due next week and the owner will not defer payment to end of April to see if flights will definitely go ahead. If we pay for this would we get our money back if flights are cancelled or would insurance say we shouldn't have paid in first place? So far Virgin Atlantic are still saying our flights are going. Help please.

You need to check with your insurer. All cover is not the same. It may also depend when you bought it. Insurers have begun to reduce cover going forward, mainly on the basis that Coronavirus is a much more recognised risk.
Personally - I’d say there isn’t a hope that things will be back to normal in June. The US is a new hotspot with cases ramping up very quickly so we don’t know where that will end. You need to make your own call on that however.0 -
I would agree with Nebulous2 but would add the following -
Not sure when you last spoke to the villa owner but matters relating to short term villa and condo operations changed last Friday. Whilst the new rules do not at this time cover your travel dates the changes may be enough for the owner to now show more flexibility over delaying final payment until closer to your arrival date.
The Florida Governor issued Executive Order 20-87, ordering all parties engaged in rental of vacation rental properties to suspend vacation rental operations. Vacation rentals are prohibited from making new reservations or bookings and shall not accept new guests for check-in for the duration of this order.
You can probably Google more on this Executive Order 20-87 but I would hope that armed with a little more information on this and this order, your villa owner may realise they need to perhaps be a little more accommodating with your desire to find a mutual solution.0
