Full Time Student, Part Time Work, Just been Terminated

Hi all,
My daughter started work with a well known high street shoe/bags business on the 4th March having been told a week earlier that she had been successful. Contracted just 8 hours a week with 33 days leave (seems a lot but that is what is written down). Suffice to say she has been told today that they will be terminating her employment as she did not start before 28th Feb. and will be paid a one week notice period. She has worked about 5 shifts since that time and then the lockdown came into force.
Being a student she's still responsible for her other expenses and apart from anything else she really loved the job, so it's a shame.
From what I can see she's just got to take it on the chin and there's not much else she can do?
Thanks

I'm afraid so. Perhaps look for work in the supermarkets?1

Thanks for the reply, going to see how things pan out over the next few weeks and then she'll start looking again. There is a possibility she might be re-employed by the terminating company and she'd probably be happy with that.0
