Paid for holiday with credit card, can I get a refund?

Hi, I recently paid for a holiday rental for in the UK but the travel agent say holidays are being cancelled because of the travel restrictions due to the corona virus. The travel agent will not refund and I have no holiday insurance, Can I claim back through my credit card? I stand to loose £600. Please advise.

When is the holiday for?  Have you been offered credit, or the option to rebook in the future?

Is your holiday ATOL bonded? If so, then your card provider will not refund you. I've spoken to my card provider and that's what they told me. However, on the ATOL site it seems claims can only be made to them in the case of the travel company failing e.g. Thomas Cook. My other route was insurance who say I can claim, but as you don't have any........

Holiday is booked for 15th May for a holiday rental in the UK. I have not been offered credit or an option to rebook. I realise travel restrictions may change when they are reassess on 13th April but doubt it very much. the travel agents has ceased to take calls and is not replying to emails. Can I be reimbursed from my credit card?

You can, but you'll need proof in writing that they're denying help (or at least that you've tried to contact them by email / message / post etc and had no reply). 

Bear in mind that they'll be swamped with claims at the moment, so I'd expect a resolution time of months rather than weeks.
