Furlough

Hello
I was laid off from my job last Thursday and due to them saying they do not know who is eligible for this i found another job to tied me over in the mean time. My long term employer told me i wasn't aloud to work for any one else unless i resigned. So i had no choice to resign as they still kept saying even now they do not know who is eligible for furlough, when the government website states that most of us do but i'm understanding its only if the company wants to put you through for furlough as they do not have to.
Can you confirm my company has given me the correct advise here that i had to resign in order to work else where in the time being and can no longer claim for furlough?

If you have another job, you have no call on your previous employer. It is up to your new employer to pay you or let you go (as they can't furlough you).
What your previous employer may or may not have said has no bearing on your position now.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

Read your contract. If it says nothing about working at another job then they can't stop you.0
