British Gas unknown Direct Debit
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what this could be?
I previously had Electricity supplied by EON and Gas by British Gas but in February switched to BG Dual Tariff through the MSE Cheap Energy Club.
I received my final bill from EON and notiification that the account was closing which I paid off.
On the 27th of March I received the first of the new ongoing bills for the new BG tariff (£60/Month) which was taken out of my account. I was surprised to see that there was another 2 Direct Debits setup by British Gas, one of which took a further £43 out of my account on the 30th March! Would anyone know what this could possibly be for? I assume I won't be able to talk to anyone at BG as they are only taking emergency calls at the moment.
Many Thanks,

It doesn't really matter, provided that all the payments show on your BG account; it'll all come out in the wash. Have they billed separately for gas and electricity? The figures look about right. If a payment seems to have vanished into cyberspace you could reclaim it via the DD guarantee, but otherwise I'd just watch and wait.0

Hi,
Thank you for the reply. The dual tariff should be £60 which is what I was expecting to be taken out and has been. I can't see the £43 DD on British Gases account billing section yet but can see the £60 that I was expecting, Interestingly I can see all future DD's on there for the coming months, £60 as expected. Might have to wait another day to see if it appears but nowhere, anywhere can I see a figure of £43 for anything0 -
Have a close look at the account where you see the £60 being applied, does it show information for both gas and electric or just one of them?Traditionally BG have had separate accounts for gas from electric and while you can opt to have them combined it was not the default. You should be able to see a bill explaining what the £60 was actually for...0
