Hi
i have just been notified that I will be paid full pay for two weeks and the put on furlough payment but only 65% not the 80%
I earn £38k but others who are on 37.5k are getting the 80%
can my employer do this, what can I do as this impacts more than if I was on 37.5k at 80% ?
please help I’m in tears over this
thanks

The employer is entitled to get 80% of your salary paid up to a maximum of £2500 per month, clearly anyon earning more than this will see a smaller percentage being paid.0

Hi, are you sure you're understanding it correct? Based on your figures, 65% of £38k, after tax and NI is roughly what you'll receive from the government.0

Hi Mel,
I assume this is to do with the £2500/month limit, so taking your gross pay of £38k means you have a gross income of £3166.67 a month which is above the limit set by the government, so you would in effect be earning £30k/year under the furlough scheme.
Anyone who is paid over £2500 is done so at the companies discretion and would be topped up by the company.

Have they detailed exactly how this is calculated? I'm betting there's a mis-communication somewhere, as I doubt they'd be making such a huge difference between staff on £500 less a year.
Above all, that's still knocking on for £2k a month; so even if it takes time to resolve it's not the end of the world. Most people live on much less month to month, and you can apply for a mortgage holiday / defer payments on various services while this is going on.0 -
Employment law still applies. You would have to agree to taking anything less than 100% so were you asked to take a cut and did you agree? You can also agree by acceptance i.e. not complaining or using the company's grievance procedure.
Check your employment contract. Or talk to ACAS (see below)- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.
