Furlough for NEW starter?

I started my new job on monday 3rd March 2020, I have had my first months wage paid in full but as of the 26th march my company has closed due to guidelines and we were verbally told we are on furlough, now all the staff have received a letter on furlough but NON of the new starters have (10-15 new starters) any rules and regs on this one? Gov.uk mentions people on the books for end of Feb but not start of march?

I am afraid you are correct. You have to be on the payroll at 28 February 2020. You can try asking your ex-employer, but they have little incentive to help, and can't help if you left voluntarily.
