Will my private pension affect my claim for universal credit

Hi I’m self employed but unable to work due to the pandemic. I have a private pension but when I put this into the on line calculations it says because of my pension I will not be entitled to u c.
Does anyone know if my pension will not count when I’m assessed during this difficult time ??

Do you mean an income from private pension?

Yes it will be classed as income for UC and reduce it £1 for £1.

What did the chancellor mean then when he said something along the lines of ‘ the maximum base line had been removed when claiming for u c ‘ ??0

If you mean the minimum income floor, that was a mechanism for deeming a self employed person to have a certain level of income, whether they actually had as much income as that, or not. The aim was to stop people claiming UC and not trying to earn much from their self employment. That floor has been temporarily removed, because a lot of self employed businesses have no profits due to COVID -19.0
