AEG Induction Hob flashing red lights and unresponsive

Hello,

My AEG Induction Hob (Model:  hk634200xb) stopped working this morning - the red LED's on the control panel are flashing and all the sensor buttons are unresponsive.  It isn't displaying an error code. I've tried switching the hob off completely via the master on / off switch which is located in the cupboard next to the hob and leaving it off for 10 minutes then turning it back on but it's made no difference (I confirmed the hob was completely off by checking the red flashing lights were off too).  The bottom left plate on the hob stopped working a few days ago and now the entire hob isn't functioning.  I've attached a picture of the red flashing lights (I would post a link to a video but I'm restricted from doing so due to being a new member).

The hob came with the house so I don't know if it's under warranty.  I've tried calling AEG and their tech support weren't helpful - they offered to send an engineer out which would cost approx £88.  Before I proceed to get an engineer out I want to know if there's anything else I can try.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

mine isn't an induction, but is touch sensor.

If all the lights come on it's because it is locked.  To get it off I have to hold the on button for 3 seconds before it comes responsive again.

    Worth a try
  • Thanks for the response.  Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be locked - I've tried pressing and holding the power button for about 20 seconds but the problem persists.  I also pressed and held the lock button too for 20+ seconds and the lights still keep flashing.

Is there any sequence in the flashes or is it just constant. With some devices the sequence of flashes can actually determine the fault. TBH, I think you're going to have to accept the engineer call out as it sound it's probably going to require removing and dismantling, if it is indeed repairable.

I have to admit, my first thought was Child Lock.  The manual isn't very helpful as it doesn't have that as a fault.  Whatever faults it does show, all seemed to be cured by turning it off (which you've done) and then on again and, if that doesn't work, call their expensive engineers.  I suppose you could try local white goods repairers, someone may have come across it before.  Before I downloaded the manual I tried the support page and you can, if you know your product number (which you do) and serial number, request on-line help.  You can also use something called a troubleshooter but that requires a log-in and password.  Maybe when you registered your product ............. oh damn, it's not yours from new is it, so that's out, although I suppose you could try registering and getting a log -in.
  • There's one note in the manual that says after turning power back on, turn on a hotplate within 10 seconds  - maybe worth a try
